First 5 Solano Launches Annual Program to Honor
“Family-Friendly” Businesses

First 5 Solano and the Alliance of Business for Children (ABC) invite nominations of local businesses for the 2012 “Family-Friendly Business Awards” program. This program will honor Solano businesses with workplace policies and practices that support employees with young children. There are separate categories for small (20 or less employees), medium (21-99) and large (100+) businesses.

“Businesses with “Family-Friendly” practices can actually increase their profits by attracting and retaining well-qualified employees,” said Sandy Person, President of Solano Economic Development Corporation. “These businesses are leaders in enhancing the quality of life in our communities. Employees who are parents are more productive when they have reliable child care, flexible work schedules that accommodate family needs and workplace support.”

The 2012 Family-Friendly Business Awards will be presented at the monthly Solano Economic Development Corporation Breakfast on May 24, 2012, sponsored by First 5 Solano Children and Families Commission.
