Clay and Glass Exhibition and Workshops at Petaluma Arts Center, Jan. 20 – Mar. 4 2012

The Petaluma Art Center teams up with the Association of Clay and Glass Artists of California (ACGA) to bring to Sonoma County an exhibition of sculptural and functional works in clay and glass with a schedule of top
?notch lectures, demos, and workshops by exhibiting artists. Carol Koffel will be raffling off eight of her spectacular tumblers at the close of the exhibit.

Good Company: Great Clay and Glass in California, 1932 - 2012 will run from January 20 through March 4, 2012 at 230 Lakeville St, Petaluma, in the Historic Railroad Station at E. Washington and Lakeville Streets.

The exhibition will include historical background of ACGA and Frederick Carlton Ball who founded the association in 1945. Ball (1911-1992) taught ceramics in numerous colleges and universities for more than 40 years and wrote a book called 'Decorating Pottery with Clay, Slip and Glaze'.
Contemporary clay and glass artists will exhibit in the good company of historically important works borrowed from the collection of Forrest L. Merrill including pieces by Glen Lukens, Laura Andreson, Beatrice Wood, Marquerite Wildenhain, Dr. Herbert Sanders, Antonio Prieto and Bob Fritz.

Work by Diane Blacker, Alice Corning, Ken Garret, David Gilhooly, Lin Hsin-Chuen, James Lovera, Rex Mason, Daniel Oberti, Anthony Prieto, Dr. Glen Spangler, Gerry Wallace, Marguerite Wildenhain, Mardi Wood and many others will also be included.

Workshop students with all skill levels will learn a variety of techniques from some of the best clay and glass artists in the Bay Area including: Christa Assad, Cheryl Costantini, Nichibei Potters, Nuala Creed, Carol Wedemeyer, Lisa Jean De Soto, Lynne Meade and Carol Koffel.
